Cheshire motorcycle ride: Alderley Edge to Oulton Park

What beats a Cheshire motorcycle ride… two Cheshire motorcycle rides. That’s exactly what this post is about, with my Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber and Honda CMX 1100 taking to some familiar Cheshire roads, plus a couple of stops at J&S Motorcycles. Along the way, there are some interesting old bikes, plenty of autumn scenery and, thankfully, some cracking weather — particularly on the CMX ride.

Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber Cheshire motorcycle ride 

The first Cheshire motorcycle ride of the week was on the Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber, heading out from home through Alderley Edge and on towards Holmes Chapel.

From there I headed towards Oulton Park, taking Coach Road through the woods. I also stopped for a few minutes at Oulton Lake, a lovely quiet spot with the water and some beautiful Cheshire houses providing a great backdrop for the V9.  From the lake, I carried on towards the Red Fox Indian Restaurant in Tarpoley and then turned to head over to J&S. There were a couple of bikes at J&S that took my eye a decent looking Ducati SS and a lovely Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans – a real memory jogger from the 1970’s.

All in all it has been one of those rides where there was no particular destination that mattered – just time to enjoy being on two wheels on a decent and very enjoyable little Cheshire loop.

Honda CMX 1100 Cheshire motorcycle ride

The following day I decided to do almost exactly the same Cheshire motorcycle ride, this time on the Honda CMX 1100.

This was the first trip on the CMX since the trip to Stretton Water Mill  and of course the two summer trips to Scotland, so it felt good to be back on it again, it really is such a good bike.

The weather couldn’t really have been better either — a crisp autumnal morning, followed by a really pleasant afternoon with temperature reaching about 24 degrees. Bright sunshine, clear skies and a Cheshire motorcycle ride make for a pretty good combination.

I followed more or less the same route through Alderley Edge, Holmes Chapel and towards Oulton Park, before another stop at J&S – this time I bought a couple of garage items and had a coffee before enjoying the ride home.
