Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber Cheshire ride and picture gallery

The weather looked reasonable enough when I got the Moto Guzzi V9 out of the garage.

It was fairly bright and temperatures were forecast to be decent enough. It was the sort of start to a day that just makes you want to get out and ride. I wasn’t planning a long trip and had no particular plan. Maybe just a 100 mile or so familiar loop on Cheshire’s quiet back-roads similar to my first ride on the Guzzi and that I wrote about here.

The Route and Landmarks

My route on the Moto Guzzi V9 took me down through the Cheshire back roads toward Holmes Chapel. The roads were quiet and the V9 was running smoothly … well smoothly in the context of a Moto Guzzi!.

Before Holmes Chapel I stopped to take a couple of pictures of both radio telescopes at Jodrell Bank. It’s always a pretty good view, and this time there was a sort of symmetry about their positioning. Coming around the bend and seeing the massive telescopes towering over the surrounding fields never gets old. After the views at Jodrell Bank I was back on the Moto Guzzi V9 and headed on, towards the J&S store in Northwich.

Coffee and toast

The main stop for the morning was the café at the J&S superstore in Oakmere near Northwich. It is a handy pit stop, whether for a quick warm-up when it’s cold, or a cold drink when its hot. Of course a mug of coffee always goes down well what ever the weather. Coffee and a couple of slices of toast for £4 makes for top value. And not for the first time the Guzzi drew some appreciative and inquisitive looks while parked up outside – in much the same way my V7 always does.

Cut Short by the Weather

Just as I headed back to my bike the weather looked to be turning with grey rapidly replacing blue in the sky. Within a half mile of setting of the wind picked up and the rain started to fall.

The ride back was a damp one. It wasn’t the worst rain and wind but it was enough to encourage me to take a direct route home and leave the back roads for another day.

It cut the ride shorter than planned, but to be honest any excuse to get the Moto Guzzi out is a good one.
