Moto Guzzi V7 750 Cafe Racer the beauty of an Italian V twin
I posted the other day about my BMW RnineT. That post was to mark the 7th anniversary of my ownership of that bike.
In that post I said the only constant in the garage and the only bike that was here before the RnineT was the beautiful Italian Moto Guzzi V7 Cafe.
Here’s that link for the last time I posted about the Guzzi.
Pictures for pictures sake
You could accuse me of just posting pictures for pictures sake.
And if that’s the charge – then that’s exactly what I am guilty of. But with a bike that looks this good then why not?
This model was launched back in 2011 to mark the 90th anniversary of the Moto Guzzi factory at Mandello del Lario.
Classic styling
The style of the Cafe Classic is unmistakeably Italian and is similar to the original V7 Sport.
This model has chromed spoked wheels upswept exhausts and dials similar to the original Veglia instruments that graced the original.
You can read much more about the model and some of its history (along with detailed specifications) over at this link.
I’ve owned this one from new and bought it back in 2012. Other than getting rid of the OEM rear mudguard, for a shorter neater tail assembly, swapping the exhausts for a pair of shorter and betting sounding cans, and getting rid of the mirrors for more traditional bar ends I haven’t changed too much.
Of all the bikes I have had over the years it’s this one that has had the most attention from others bikers and even non bikers.
Something for the weekend?
If you’re looking for something for the weekend then this could well be the bike for you. Although whilst you won’t find so many V7 Cafe’s about you will find the multiple V7 variants.
The Moto Guzzi Café really is full of character. Its shaft driven engine rocks when the throttle is blipped and the handling is generally good.
Despite the limitations of its five speed gearbox and modest BHP it really is a lot of fun to ride.
It’s also a good conversation starter at your local bike shop/coffee stop – check out this coffee stop post.
I’d have another V7 in the garage like a shot, especially the newer model (you can’t get the Cafe style any more) – but what about this for a bit of relaxed summer riding and you can pick them up used at a very decent price.
