Our Kids Eyes get set to benefit from Paul’s run …

I’ve already posted a couple of times about Paul’s planned Ultra Run in May. If you missed the earlier posts you can click on the links and read Part One here and Part Two here

If you have read the previous posts then you will know that the Ultra run Paul will be doing is the L2M – a small matter of running from Liverpool to Manchester … and then back again!

In my previous Blog post I said that Paul was set to decide on which charity he would run for,  I’m delighted to say that this year he has decided he will run the Ultra for the Tameside based charity Our Kids Eyes (OKE).

Our Kids Eyes have been around since 1997 and became a registered charity in 2005.  Essentially the Charity provides support, advice, information and a whole range of activities and events across Tameside to support families who have children with special needs.

You can find out more about Our Kids Eyes by following this link to their web site.

OKE is run by volunteers, who are all local parents of children who have special needs.

This means they know first hand the impact that having a child with special needs has on the whole family. This experience gives them a real insight into the things that make a difference.

When I spoke to Paul about why he had decided to run for OKE he told me that, although he was all too aware of the financial stresses and strains that many people are continuing to deal with on a daily basis , he was also very aware and concerned about what he described to me as a sort of double impact on the ‘smaller’, local charities who are finding it increasingly difficult to raise money and it was because of this that he wanted to run for a local charity rather than one of the major national charities.

Paul has set up his Just Giving page and you can go there using this link.

Paul has set a target of raising £500 for OKE, but I’m going to start by being optimistic that together we can beat that!

Not only will it be wonderful to be able to raise money to support the good work that OKE do, I’m sure that it will provide a massive boost to Paul as he continues his training and will really help to keep him going when the pain kicks in during the run in May.

I will post more update in due course – but please find time to visit Paul’s Just Giving Page as well as having a look at Our Kids Eyes.
