Decent place for a bike service
Last week I needed a new tyre for one of my bikes (Moto Guzzi V7 Café).
A stroke of ‘search engine luck’ led me to find the contact details of MW Motorcycles – based in Hyde Greater Manchester
I say a stroke of luck for a couple of reason.
One being that despite these guys being just up the road from me (about a mile and a half) I didn’t actually know they were there.
And the second reason is that when I did make contact, initially by telephone I found them to be really helpful, personable and with sound knowledge based advice.
I ordered the new tyre and nipped up there the following day – a quick inspection revealed that in addition to the new tyre it needed a new inner tube as well.
With my bike on the stand and the front wheel off I said I would leave it with them until the following day, and decided to walk home – but this was proper ‘old fashioned service’ and the guys actually offered to jump in the van and give me a lift home. Despite their very decent offer I decided to walk and it wasn’t really a great distance home.
I called back next day and my bike was ready as promised and done at a decent and competitive price.
So why bother dropping a short update on my Blog about it?
Well to be honest I just found it really refreshing to find a decent place, offering decent customer service and doing what they said they would do. I also loved the workshop – and no it’s not an all polished floor, ‘state of the art’ equipped workshop – but it does have a really honest feel to it and the sort of place where you get the feeling that actually you could just ‘phone or call in for some sound advice.
I was really happy with their work, friendliness and overall approach and to be honest they will be my first port of call for tyres in future and probably for any future service requirements – and the fact they have been trading as small business for some years through difficult times probably says a lot for them
If you’re in the area and need your bike looking at, tyres fitting etc then I don’t think you would go far wrong with contacting MW Motorcycles.
They haven’t asked me to write this but if you’re anything like me you tend to want to know that your pride and joy is being handled well – and that the feeling I got here and so quite simply thought it was worth sharing with other bikers.
