BMW RnineT – good morning sunshine, heading for the coast

I had said the other week about how it felt like the change to better weather seemed to be taking an age this year.

Thankfully it seems we have now turned the corner and with the good weather at weekend I was up, out and on the road for around 07:00am.

More often that not when the weather is good I head for Cheshire, North Wales or Staffordshire . This time I picked a different direction and opted to head for the Fylde coast. I had no particular reason to head that way other than just for a change.

Last time out I had been on the F800R in North Wales and Cheshire (see picture gallery 3 at this post), but for the ride to the coast at weekend I opted for the RnineT.

My ride was about 160 miles or so and I loved the freshness of the morning and pretty much just generally enjoyed being out on a bike. Although from a ‘good roads for bikers’ perspective I would have to say that in all honesty it wasn’t the best selection of roads.

I had headed out via the market town of Ormskirk in West Lancashire and then onto Southport and a ride down Lord Street, a street that always strikes me as quite elegant.

After Southport it was on towards Lytham, then along the front in Blackpool before turning to head for home.

Although not really good biking roads there is something in the expression ‘ a change is as good as a rest’ – so whilst the ride wasn’t really anything to rave about it was a decent morning on the bike and one I quite enjoyed.
